Wolf Depredation Compensation

The Office of Species Conservation is accepting applications for wolf depredation compensation due to loss. There are state and federal funds available to livestock producers for losses due to wolves documented by a state authorized investigator during the 2026 calendar year. Losses that are documented as confirmed, probable, and possible are eligible for state funds through Idaho Code Section 36-1121 , while only confirmed losses are eligible for federal funding. The deadline for compensation applications is December 31st, 2026. See the Compensation form linked below for the application and more detailed information. Wolf Depredation Prevention

The Office of Species Conservation typically accepts proposals between November and February annually for producers interested in funding for proactive, preventative measures such as range riders, game cameras, temporary pens, fladry, fox lights, livestock guardian dogs and other supplies. OSC recognizes that each livestock operation is different and has its own set of challenges. The application period for the 2026 grazing season is currently open until March 1st, 2026.
